Small Biz Diaries - March 2024

hollymoellercreati

How much can you pack into one short month? Quite a bit, as it turns out!

Here’s a whistlestop tour of my March…

1.Preparing for the Harrogate Flower Show

The ‘big’ thing this month has been getting ready for the biggest event my small business has ever done! I’ve been ordering in plenty of new designs as well as stocking up on existing gifts. Besides that, I’ve had to wrap my head around creating height using stands, getting card readers, choosing paper bags and organising all the other stuff that goes with selling in person. It’s been a whirlwind! I can’t wait to go and see what happens!

2. Woodland Trust Greeting Cards Launch

It was amazing to launch my first greeting cards collection this month. The spring designs have been going like hot cakes!  I order all my cards with a fantastic local printer just ten minutes from me, so it’s lovely to be supporting other local businesses in the community. Moreover, I’m really proud of the fact that these greeting cards support the Woodland Trust. They are printed on special eco-friendly paper, with recycled envelopes, and a small donation is made to the Trust for each card.

3. Dance Festival Commission

Behind the scenes, I’ve started working on a brand-new commission for a lovely choreographer who is performing a piece at the London Dance Festival this summer. I’m creating six huge placards with nature inspired designs for her dance piece. It has been fantastic listening to the beautiful music she’s chosen, with its strong environmental themes. I can wholeheartedly recommend booking tickets to her show if you are near London. More links to come soon!

4. Bees and Wildflowers Giftware Collection

Since January, I’ve been working on a new art collection inspired by bees and spring wildflowers. The collection is now complete, and I’ve entered the product development phase, meaning that I will be releasing this new line of giftware very soon. The collection will officially launch at the Harrogate Flower Show, and then it will go live online soon after. I’m really proud of this spring collection, and I have loved getting all floral with my art. Definitely will be focusing more on florals in collections to come!

All in all, it’s been a fab month, and I am now very ready for a break over Easter! Holly x
