This artwork celebrates the peace found in solitude and alone time. The title references the 13th century Sufi mystic Rumi who wrote the following poem:
"This aloneness is worth more than a thousand lives.
This freedom is worth more than all the lands on earth.
To be one with the truth for just a moment,
Is worth more than the world and life itself."
The metallic gold shimmers in the horse - reminding you that your peace comes from within. This mirrors the silver in the sky which shines iridescent in the light, suggesting the preciousness of your inner life and affirming your need to return to the solitude of your soul often to draw strength and peace.
This piece is part of Holly's ‘Peace Collection’ of watercolour landscapes reflecting on what peace means - both inner peace and peace in the world. Each painting is an invitation for the viewer to explore what peace is to them.
