This artwork portrays a field blooming with white poppies (which have long been a recognised symbol of peace) to ask you where you discover your peace.
The painting began in reference to peace activism and non-violence - questioning whether we are sometimes too quick to resolve conflict by violent means because we do not dare to imagine about a world where we resist force through peaceful resistance. The feeling behind this painting references John Lennon's 'Imagine' - an idealist political song that calls for world peace.
However, the artwork is not intended to force the viewer to agree with a certain viewpoint - but rather an invitation to reflect and dream and explore what peace means to them. For this reason, the painting is named 'Finding Peace' - a deliberately open-ended title that allows for a variety of different meanings and responses.
